Tuesday Mooney Talks to Ghosts by Kate Racculia

Tuesday Mooney Talks to Ghosts is one of the best adventure/puzzle/whodunits I’ve read this year. If you loved Ready Player One but felt overloaded with the 80s references, give this one a try. There’s ghosts, adventures, puzzles, friendships, and a whole lot of researching and it all made my brain so happy.
Tuesday Mooney is pretty boring. She sticks to herself at work, has one friend, and is content to spend time alone. While volunteering at the latest fundraiser for the hospital, Tuesday meets one of the richest, and most eligible bachelors, Nathaniel Arches. Trading some small talk and sarcastic remarks leads to a little sparkle of “something could happen here,” but it’s quickly overshadowed by the sudden and dramatic death of the incredibly wealthy and eccentric Vincent Pryce. The next day, news of Pryce’s death is everywhere and so is the announcement of a treasure hunt that will lead to a share of his vast fortune.
Tuesday is immediately intrigued. Her love of puzzles and her skill with researching gives her an advantage and teaming up with her best friend Dex is a no-brainer. But when she is approached by Nathaniel “Archie” Arches to form an alliance, she doesn’t know whether to be skeptical or jump at the opportunity at a large payout.
Researching every clue with the help of an eclectic group of friends, Tuesday finds herself on a life changing adventure through Boston and it’s darkest secrets.
This book was so much fun! When I started it, I meant to just read the first few chapters, put it down, and get some actual work done. Reader friends, I didn’t put it down until the last page, which happened at 11:00 that night. It’s such a fun, fast-paced story with relatable characters and a very satisfying ending. There’s a crazy house with trap doors, secret identities, puzzles, codes, and a ghost from Tuesday’s past who is helping? Maybe? I really enjoyed the friendship between Tuesday and Dex. Outgoing and flashy Dex is perfectly fine with the all-black wearing quiet Tuesday. He knows he has to initiate an evening out with her-but he also knows she’ll say yes. While Tuesday is very reserved, she tells him the truth when he needs to hear it. They both just get each other and are very supportive-even after one of them acts like a complete jerk and has to beg forgiveness.
Loved this book!
