The Boyfriend Project by Farrah Rochon

Reader Friends, this a great romance! It’s funny, smart, and very steamy. To me, that’s the perfect combination for a joy-filled reading experience.
Samiah Brooks has worked her tail off and is proud of her accomplishments. She has an amazing apartment, a successful career, and a great relationship with her family. She also thought she had a promising relationship with a new man until a chance social media post uncovers the real truth-he was dating three woman all at the same time, and he rescheduled their date that evening to attend another date with a different woman! Wanting to confront him herself, she shows up to the restaurant to find two other women who all have the same idea. Confront the bastard and make him regret ever trying to sneak around on three intelligent women. What began as an embarrassing encounter turns into the beginning of a real and lasting friendship between Samiah, London, and Taylor. But the drama isn’t over, their encounter with the three-timing jerk was caught on video and the three women are now viral sensations. So what do these three women decide to do with their new found fame? Ignore it and focus on themselves. The three new best friends make a pact to spend the next six months focusing on themselves. Samiah is excited to have given herself permission to avoid the dating game and focus on her dream-creating an app for people to find lasting platonic relationships.
You know what’s going to happen, right? Oh yes! Welcome Daniel. Super hot techie that’s new to Samiah’s company. He’s smart, attractive, attentive, and genuinely cares about how Samiah is handling the drama around the viral video. Of course the perfect guy shows up! And he’s so perfect. Except for that pesky little detail about him actually working undercover the Treasury Department investigating Samiah’s company of money laundering.
I loved this book! Just loved it. Samiah and Daniel begin this romance that’s just full of mutual admiration and respect. Daniel is never threatened by Samiah’s success. There are some great conversations where he learns how important her career is to her and how hard she has to work and he is incredibly supportive of her dreams of developing the Best Friends app. He also never steps in to take over anything-loved this! He knows she knows her shit and he lets her do her thing.
The friendship between Samiah, London, and Taylor is my new favorite bookish friends group. They are instant friends, no cattiness or jealousy, just straight up friends. They support each other, respect each other, and have each other’s backs. Wait until you get to the end! I can’t wait for book 2! I loved how they immediately set up weekly drinks dates and would bounce ideas back and forth. It’s just really wonderful to have true friendships shown and it made me realize that if you want friendships like that, you have to show up. Samiah may have made this point a few times…I listened.
This is the first book in a trilogy with Taylor and London’s books coming soon. I believe Taylor is next and I’m super excited for it.
